Andy Long joined the Black Hills Runners Club this fall for the social
aspect and to increase his running as a supplement to his mountain biking.
He has enjoyed the club and has found us easygoing and accepting.
Andy is 44 and hails from Bloomington, Minnesota. His Mom, two sisters,
a brother, and seven nieces and nephews still live there. He moved to
Rapid City when he entered the School of Mines. He eventually went on
to earn a PhD in 2000 and currently works as a Hydrologist for the U.S.
Geological Survey.
He enjoys reading, landscaping his home, and playing several musical
instruments to include the banjo, mandolin, and guitar. Andy is also
into the great outdoors which is why he likes to mountain bike and run
trails.
He has ran on and off since high school where he was a cross-country
runner. He has no firm running goals. Andy just wants to run several
times a week to stay in good condition for biking.
Welcome to the club, Andy! We look forward to hanging out and running
with you. Club members, if you haven’t met him yet, he is there
most Wednesday nights and sometimes shows up for the Sunday trail runs.
He is quiet but easy to talk to.
